The power supply is 220/240 volts, 50 hertz. The most common plugs have two round pins.

Time zone

There is only one time zone in New Caledonia and thus no change in the standard time, like in France. The time difference with France is 9 or 10 hours, 0 to 3 hours with Australia and 2 hours with Japan. New Zealand, however, is one hour ahead of New Caledonia.

Currency

The Pacific franc (XPF or XPF) has a fixed exchange rate with the Euro (€). 1 € = 119.3317 XPF

Immigration

All visitors must have a passport that is valid for at least 6 months after the arrival date. Persons travelling with a European Union passport, as well as Australians and New Zealanders, do not require a visa for a stay of less than three months. For people of foreign nationality, entry conditions to the territory are regulated. It is advisable to contact the French consulate or embassy in your country before coming to New Caledonia.

Tipping

There is no tipping in New Caledonia.

Climat

New Caledonia enjoys a subtropical climate with pleasant temperatures throughout the year. It can be divided into two seasons:
• The hot season from December to March: average temperatures vary between 25° and 27° Celsius with brief tropical showers. This is also the cyclone season.
• The cool season from April to November: average temperatures vary between 20° and 23° Celsius.
The seasons are disturbed by the El Niño phenomenon, represented by the appearance of warm currents in the tropical zone of the Pacific and responsible for droughts.
