SMSP group continues to develop its strategy to optimize the valorization of its natural resource. On July 9, 2021, SMSP signed a partnership agreement with POSCO for the diversification of the production of the Gwangyang Plant. Thus SNNC, SMSP’s Subsidiary Plant in South Korea, will continue to receive the same quantity of ore but will produce two types of products: ferronickel and matte. Matte is an intermediate product used in the manufacture of electric vehicle batteries. Under the agreement, SNNC will produce 26,000 tons of ferronickel and 21,000 tons of matte by 2024.
A groundbreaking ceremony was held on Tuesday 22 June this week to mark the launching of works at SNNC Caledonian Plant in South Korea.
