Women and Men: Together for a Safe Workplace

As they do every year, the SMSP Group took part in International Women’s Rights Day on March 8. This year’s theme was “Rights and Justice.”

In 2026, the SMSP Group is proud to strengthen its commitment to women through concrete, field-based actions aimed at its operational teams on the topic of sexism. These actions contribute to the recognition and, above all, the implementation of women’s rights and justice for them.

Deepening and Coordination

In 2025, the Group offered its subsidiaries—KNS, NMC and Cotransmine—awareness workshops on sexism with the participation and support of Guénolé Bouvet and Maud Le Bar. These workshops, held in Nouméa and at NMC sites, were primarily intended for women.

Following these workshops, the Group began discussions with the NMC Human Resources Department to support actions undertaken by its subsidiary in this area. During 2025, two additional initiatives were validated and implemented: the creation of posters illustrating sexist behaviour, sexual assault, sexual harassment and rape.

In the same spirit, the SMSP Group also worked on producing a pilot video clip depicting a fictional sexist situation.

During this preparation phase, the Group and the HR departments also emphasized the importance of the DLS (Delegates for the Fight Against Sexism). These delegates act as real sentinels on site regarding sexist behaviours and remarks.

In 2026, the Group rolled out these materials and actions in the field in coordination with NMC, KNS and Cotransmine.

Poster Deployment

The posters created were distributed across all Group sites: from Nouméa (SMSP-SOFINOR, NMC Ducos and Cotransmine Numbo) to Ouaco (NMC and Cotransmine Téoudié), as well as Nakéty (NMC), Poya (NMC) and Vavouto (KNS).

The main objective of these posters is to raise awareness by presenting concrete examples of sexist behaviour, sexual assault, sexual harassment or rape.

What may seem obvious is not always obvious to everyone, and visual representation helps distinguish between a joke or habit and normalized, everyday sexism.

Mixed Sexism Awareness Workshops

The second key action for the Group and its subsidiaries was the organization of mixed sexism awareness workshops.

Initially offered to women only in 2025—since they are the main people affected—both women and their male colleagues expressed the wish that these workshops be offered to all employees, regardless of gender.

This positive and encouraging sign prompted the Group and the Human Resources departments to work together throughout 2025 and 2026 to make these workshops accessible to as many employees as possible in 2026.

The workshops began on Tuesday, March 10 and Wednesday, March 11 at the NMC Ouaco site in the municipality of Kaala-Gomen. They were spread over two days and six different time slots to reach all teams, including those working at the seaside facilities.

Cotransmine employees from Téoudié also joined the NMC Ouaco seashore workshops. It was a moment of awareness and reflection for everyone, but also an opportunity to strengthen connections between subsidiaries.

More than one hundred employees took part in these sessions, which led to rich and engaging discussions. Employees asked many questions about gestures or comments that may seem harmless or habitual but can nevertheless constitute sexism.

Some examples of questions included:

“Can I tell a woman ‘smile’ if I see she looks upset?” Would you say the same thing to a man if he looked upset?

“Can I shake a woman’s hand?” Yes, if she also extends her hand. If she does not, it may mean she is not comfortable with physical contact—and that is perfectly okay.

During these workshops, the SMSP Group emphasized that the objective was not to judge or put teams on trial, but rather to identify sexist behaviours and remarks so that they can be addressed and stopped.

The goal is to enable teams to work in a safe workplace, respectful of everyone’s boundaries and free from inappropriate behaviour or comments.

Short and Interactive Activities

Other activities were also organized during the week of March 9, including a “mobile debate” workshop. This short activity invites participants to position themselves on either side of a line on the floor depending on whether they consider a statement sexist or not.

This first workshop, which will be offered at other sites, took place at the SMSP-SOFINOR offices in Nouméa. In a light and engaging atmosphere, participants positioned themselves on the “sexist” or “non-sexist” side of the line according to the statement presented.

The exercise proved particularly interesting as it generated discussions—and sometimes debates—depending on the statements and participants’ positions. It helped raise awareness while also highlighting the nuances of behaviours and comments depending on context.

A second interactive workshop called “Future Fresco” will also be offered at sites in Nouméa. This activity allows participants to freely express their views on sexism by writing or drawing on a strip of paper the changes or improvements they would like to see.

Next Steps: Continuing Workshops and Sharing Materials

While International Women’s Rights Day takes place on a single date—March 8—the Group’s awareness campaign on sexism is intended to continue throughout the year.

Additional posters will be deployed and awareness workshops will soon continue at NMC Nakety and Poya, and at KNS, depending on operational constraints.

The Group will also continue producing educational materials, particularly awareness videos featuring volunteers from different sites.

The SMSP Group communications team would like to warmly thank and congratulate all employees who participated in the workshops, those who helped put upl the posters, and the management teams within the subsidiaries who made it possible to hold the workshops and distribute the posters.

Let us continue working together to build a healthy workplace that respects everyone’s boundaries, enabling us to achieve our operational objectives in health, safety, and in alignment with our values.

The post International Women’s Rights Day 2026 – March 8 first appeared on SMSP.

She is retiring after 35 years of service.

She has seen the SMSP’s history and NMC unfold in front of her eyes.

“I joined in 1989 as a secretary at the age of 25 and we were then 60 members of staff. I then became head bookkeeper, where I was in charge of recruitment, dismissals, timekeeping, etc.”

Her eyes gazing into the distance, Josette remembers, measuring her words at the same time, recalling those 35 years, both rich and difficult, but with no regrets.

At the age of 25, with a High School Certificate with Administrative Major (Baccalauréat G1) in her pocket, she started working part-time at the Ouaco Post Office as secretary. She explains that there weren’t many people in Ouaco at the time, so when the SMSP’s Chief Accountant went off sick, they came looking for her to take over the position. She was recruited on a short fixed-term contract. Initially, she kept her part-time job at La Poste, where she was assured of stability, and worked for NMC beside. One thing led to another, she was offered the chance to stay with SMSP, and after 9 months was finally offered a permanent contract. That was it, she became part of the SMSP Family.

From then on, Josette learned everything ‘on the spot’. “I remember how hard it was to learn about to treat overtime compensation, pay scales and so on. I had a High School Certificate, a basic qualification, so I had to learn about everything’.

She remembers she was in charge of the SMSP workforce at the time, while Coco Peyrolles, who departed in 2023, was in charge of the drivers. She spent sleepless nights learning, examining account books to familiarise herself and carry out her duties to the best of her ability. She was also a trainer, as she trained the secretaries at Poum and Ouaco.

At the same time, Josette was also in-charge of staff management of SMSP and CMC (Compagnie Maritime et de Challandage), now known as Cotransmine.

The group has a genuinely rich history, and Josette was one of its privileged witnesses. As she recalls, she confides with emotion that the crash of the SMSP helicopter in 2000, is undoubtedly one of the events that will have marked her for life.

She explains, ‘The weather was overcast that day. And all afternoon I received calls asking me if the helicopter had arrived? Did anyone in Ouaco know where the helicopter was located? It was not until the following day that they heard the tragic news of the disappearance of part of the members of SMSP’s Management Team, including the then SMSP Chairman. She knew them all. ‘It was horrible’.

To those who come later, Josette is keen to share her thoughts, and reminds us that mining is a sector that fluctuates, with ups and downs. There used to be Japanese and Australians, now it’s the Chinese and Koreans. And that’s something everyone needs to be aware of. You have to work with perseverance and professionalism when things go well, and you have to be grateful. It’s not a certain. Everything can fall from one day to the next, sometimes you get back up, sometimes you don’t.

‘We’re surrounded by competitors and even if we have a rich territory, we’re not the only ones. We have to be aware that this is a very uncertain sector. You have to be efficient, determined and committed at all times’.

There’s another point that bothers and worries her: she remembers saying, ‘Before, the company was ours, the company’s good results were also our good results, we felt concerned and united’.

Today, it seems to her that the new arrival staff come more often for the salary than anything else, with no other motivation. They don’t feel concerned by the end result, or by the company. There’s no real cohesion. ‘If the mine works, so much the better, but if it doesn’t, well, too bad.

Josette proudly hung up her apron on 31 January, but admits she didn’t really realise it at the time. With depth and nostalgia, it seems, she explains that there are no more ‘Mondays’ when that’s it! back to work! After a week, she realised, and admits thoughtfully, ‘I was a bit lost’. From one day to the next, she had no goals, no reason to get up – it was overwhelming.

‘The worst thing is that I’m always looking for things to do, fortunately I’ve been looking after my grandchildren.

The compass is completely out of alignment (laughs!!).

But Josette is not a woman who wallows in boredom. She has lots of ideas, and always laughing, she says that the trick is to choose one.

Especially as she has a takeaway and dressmaking licence. She’s struggling to reactivate it, for example. What’s more, she has always been active in community life in addition to her duties with the SMSP and then the NMC. She was a member of parents’ associations at the time of her younger brothers and sisters, then for her children and now for her grandchildren.

She has set up associations. Notably for the PHOK Association (Historical Heritage of Ouaco and Kaala Gomen), which she co-founded alongside Gaston JIZDNY. ‘Our love and respect for the village of Ouaco united us in this initiative. In its day, this historic site represented a flagship vision of the Northern economy, just as the NMC embodies today for the Northern Province. Josette is currently President, having joined the organisation in 2009 alongside Gaston JIZDNY, founder and former President, a Ouaco leading dignatory.

As she says: ‘There’s no shortage of ideas, we just need to readjust our compass’.

One thing’s for sure, in Ouaco or Voh, she’ll be active right to the end.

The post Josette KROMOWIRONO, 35 years of dedication and a meritorious career first appeared on SMSP.

SMSP group wishes to inform you that Didier VENTURA was appointed as interim President of NMC since the 15th of March for a period of 6 months, thus until the 30th of September. In the meantime, our team has started a recruitment process aiming at identifying the best profile to fill the position on long term basis.

As a reminder, NMC is the New Caledonian extracting subsidiary which ore is sent to feed our off-shore plant of Gwangyang in South Korea, operated by a New Caledonian company as well, SNNC.

Didier VENTURA is very well known into SMSP group as he worked for KNS, and was the President of NMC in between 2014 and 2019. Besides its experience in nickel field and industry in New Caledonia is undeniable.

Didier comes back in a critical period for nickel market as nickel prices suffer significantly from the massive and low-cost production coming from Indonesia.

Didier replaces Isabelle WABETE who joined NMC in 2020 as President. It was very much a “back to the roots” for her as Isabelle participated to the launching of POSCO partnership before quitting SMSP group and returning to it when she joined Koniambo Nickel SAS.

Today, she quit her functions as President of NMC to fly toward new opportunities. SMSP group thanks her and wish her the best.

The post Change of President at NMC first appeared on SMSP.

8 March is a day when people come together to support women around the world. It is also an opportunity to take a close assessment of the situation of women in terms of their rights and their participation in political and economic life.

Theme for 2024

The UN (United Nations) has published the theme for 2024: “Investing in women: accelerating the pace”. Five key areas have been identified requiring joint action to ensure that women are not left behind.

New Caledonia: alarming figures for violence against women

In New Caledonia, 76% of women who are victims of domestic violence do not lodge a complaint. “We are witnessing a steady increase in domestic violence” described the French High Commissioner, Louis LE FRANC, in his report on crime published on 6 March 2024. “It has jumped by almost 94% since 2019”. Of the 3,000 or so people who suffered domestic violence, two-thirds, or 2,197, were assaulted by their spouse in 2023.

On 27 January 2024, more than 200 people marched through Nouméa City Centre to denounce violence against women. In 2023, New Caledonia suffered three domestic murders (in Canala, Thio and Dumbéa). In two out of three cases, the victims were women.

A workshop on mechanics: to master the handling of your vehicle

To mark this day of campaign, two mechanical workshops were conducted thanks to SMSP on its premises in the Noumea City Centre.

Although women are increasingly involved in mechanical engineering, there are still issues, such as routine vehicle maintenance, that are not necessarily passed on, as naturally to women as they are to men, especially younger men.

And yet, we all know wisdom is power. And that was the aim of the workshop: to empower women with the knowledge they need to take control of their vehicles, including in the event of a breakdown, or during a discussion with a garaged dealer.

The event was open not only to SMSP Group staff but also to its subsidiaries, including Cotransmine, which took part. As with the Orange the World Campaign in 2023, the group was keen to involve its colleagues in the building, namely AGTNC (Agence pour la Gestion des Tutelles en Nouvelle-Calédonie). Each workshop was attended by 10 participants.

A practical approach in front of a vehicle

With the trainer, Pierre-Olivier CLAIRET, the participants were able to learn or confirm their ability to carry out essential vehicle maintenance:

Checking oil, coolant, windscreen washer and brake levels

Check the condition of windscreen wiper blades

Check tyre pressure and wear

Inspect warning lights to ensure they are in good condition and functional.

Identify the tools and steps required to change a tyre

On the basis of a handout distributed to all the participants, the trainer took the time to explain why it was important to check a level or the condition of a piece of equipment. Then, for each item, participants were invited to approach their vehicle to open the filler caps (brake fluid or windscreen washer fluid reservoirs).
It was also possible to compare the layout of certain engines, as some participants wanted to carry out the check on their own vehicles.

While some of the knowledge may seem obvious, others were instructive. For example, how to read the reference number on a tyre. It is with a certain pride that employees can now explain what each of the numbers on a tyre reference corresponds to.

In addition to the technical aspects, he has also answered many questions and dispelled a number of myths about ‘mechanics’. For example, it is possible to use water for windscreen washer fluid (and not necessarily a product bought at a service station), but it may not wash as well. On the other hand, it is not advisable to put water in the coolant tank, as this could rust the cooling system.

Finally, the trainer answered questions relating to incidents that can occur on the road:

In the event of aquaplaning, the rule is not to brake

In the event of flooding, it is not advisable to drive through, because if the air intake is at engine level, there is a risk of sucking in water as the vehicle passes and drowning the engine (literally).

In the event of a punctured tyre, and if you have no choice but to “drive on the rim”, it is advisable to change the tyre even if you have the tyre “mishandled” or use a foam spray afterwards. This is because damage can occur to the inside of the tyre when you drive on the rim, and the rim can even be damaged.

All the participants said they had learned something, and as one of them said, “it’s always useful to refresh your knowledge”.

Women’s Rights Day in the subsidiaries: a shared commitment

NMC, an artistic initiative

For its part, NMC organised breakfasts for women to mark the occasion.

During these breakfasts, all female employees at the four mining sites were invited to take part in an art competition, by drawing or writing on an A0 poster that had been put up on the wall for this purpose.

Finally, all employees were invited to send a selfie with a quote of their choice representing women’s rights.

A colour code of purple, white or green was suggested to mark the day.

Cotransmine: Mechanical workshop and purple wristband

As it traditionally does every year, Cotransmine joined forces with the SMSP teams in Noumea to take part in mechanical workshops.

All employees were also invited to wear purple bracelets on their wrists to mark World Women’s Rights Day.

The post International Women’s Rights Day 2024 – For the 4th year running, the SMSP Group and its subsidiaries are committed to the cause first appeared on SMSP.

On October 6th, Mrs. Evelyne GORO-ATU, Mayor of POYA, officially inaugurated a new bus shelter attended by SMSP’s CEO, Karl THERBY, NMC’s President, Isabelle WABETE, and SNNC’s Head of Management Support, DOO Jin-Hong, who had traveled especially for the occasion.

Offered by our subsidiary in Korea, this bus shelter is the first one of the 4 equipments that will be installed in the municipalities where our other affiliate, Nickel Mining Company (NMC), operates its mining centres.

The emergence of the SMSP/POSCO partnership

Five years after its repurchase in 1995, SMSP was one of the leading exporters of nickel ore in the world.

For the leaders of this period, it was however only one step in the development of this exhaustible local resource. They were aware of the the unsteadiness of the nickel market and the importance of optimizing the profitability of this green gold.

It is therefore necessary to extend the existing mining activity with a further industrial activity by including the processing of metal in the group’s development strategy, as this is the only operation generating any additional value out of the ore.

This lead to the creation of two joint companies, the mining company NMC and the metallurgical company SNNC, both 51% owned by SMSP and 49% by POSCO, a Korean group dedicated to steel production.

Thus the extractive assets become the essential economic prerequisite for the launching of industrial projects, generating further development.

An international industrial partnership for the sustainable development of New Caledonia

In 2005, André DANG, the SMSP’s President, and Paul NEAOUTYINE, the North Province’s President, travelled to South Korea to conclude a partnership with the world’s leading steel producer at such time, the Korean POSCO Company. Three years later, in October 2008, SNNC celebrated the opening of its first production line with a capacity of 30,000 tons of ferro-nickel. In March 2015, SNNC successfully expanded its second production line to 54,000 tons of ferro-nickel.

Diversification in 2022 driven by the electric vehicle battery market trend

In July 2021, SMSP and its Korean partner continue to optimize the added value of the Caledonian ore and sign an agreement to spearhead the diversification of SNNC’s operations by authorizing the latter to invest in the production of nickel mattes dedicated to the manufacture of electric car batteries. The SMSP Group is thus positioning itself on this high potential market as many States are regulating and prohibiting, in the mid-term, the use of petrol driven vehicles.

The SNNC president, Jun-Hyung KIM and his collaborators are in charge of the follow-up and supervision of the construction works of this matte production unit, which started in June 2022. The construction of this facility will be completed in the second half of 2023 and the ramp-up will take place in the first half of 2024. SNNC’s ambition is to deliver 26,000 tons of ferronickel and 21,000 tons of matte annually to POSCO.

Key figures and cumulative performance for both mining and metallurgy after 10 years of operation

Thus, after 10 years of operation, from 2009 to 2018, the SMSP/POSCO partnership has generated:

for the NMC, ore producer, a cumulative turnover of 114.6 billion XPF

for the SNNC, producer of ferronickel, a accumulated turnover of XPF 411 billion.

SNNC generated dividends of nearly 22 billion XPF over this period, 51% of which were allocated to SMSP.

First economic spin-offs in New Caledonia

Between 2015 and 2016, in the midst of the mining crisis, NMC was able to renew and modernize its mining infrastructure thanks to a financial investment of 17 billion XPF which was guaranteed under the SNNC agreement.

NMC – SNNC: Sharing skills and mutual support

Within the framework of the joint venture agreements between SMSP and POSCO, it is foreseen that each of them appoints its representatives within the two JVs. The companies are therefore steered by management boards equally composed of 6 members appointed by each shareholder.

In 2020, on the occasion of the commemoration of the 20th anniversary of the tragic death of some SMSP managers (including the emblematic Raphael PIDJOT) in a helicopter accident, SNNC decided to get involved in the actions of the SMSP group and its subsidiaries in New Caledonia.

Thus, SNNC has made a major financial contribution to the Widjè Committee, in charge of the organization of the 28 November commemoration.

A symbolic gesture for the organization of this important day in the history of the SMSP group.

Since then, the exchanges continue and SNNC shows its willingness to share with New Caledonia additional economic benefits, which are already largely effective through the return of dividends.

Thus, SNNC, and particularly its Citizenship Department, contributes financially and socially to all the SMSP group’s events: the International Women’s Rights Day on March 8, the annual SMSP Trails, the “Orange the World” campaigns against violence against women, the Ouaco Heritage Day as well as the commemoration day on November 28.

In addition to these events, SNNC is a direct contributor through the SMSP to local events such as the VKPéenne, the Ecomobility week, the Women’s Day at the Customary Senate organized in 2022, on the occasion of which goodies were handed out.

Bus shelters: a further step

In 2022, the President of SNNC, Jun-Hyung KIM and his Vice-President Robert WAMINYA, announced their wish to donate 4 bus shelters financed by SNNC and allocated to 4 cities located in the Northern Province.

The choice of location was logically made in the townships where NMC is operating its mining activity and in Koné, the capital of the North Province, our reference shareholder.

These robust infrastructures (manufactured out of Caledonian nickel) were assembled in October 2022.

On October 6th, all the partners, SNNC, NMC and SMSP participated in the inauguration of the very first SNNC bus shelter installed in New Caledonia in the town hall of Poya.

The installations will continue in the other townships over the next few weeks to the enjoyment of the travelers and residents of these towns.

Thus, NMC, Cotransmine and Koniambo nickel gathered to join the event in coordination with their shareholder, SMSP.

Cohesion, warmth, sharing, commitment and environment are a few words that can sum up this Kouaoua Environment Day. Ludmilla VIRIAMU, in charge of animation at the Kouaoua City Hall, was thanked several times for the accurate organization set up which allowed the partners to share their know-how and creativity with pedagogy to children from kindergarten, elementary and secondary school.

Nearly 200 children from Kouaoua and Canala, invited for the occasion, were able to enjoy the workshops both at school building, mangrove and mining site.

All participants and children arrived on the elementary school site of Faja (Kouaoua) from 6:00 a.m. to set up classrooms and tents in front of the school. At 8:30 a.m., everyone was invited to gather in front of school for the opening speeches. The representatives of the City Hall, the Faja Elementary School and the Kouaoua and Canala’s Secondary schools gave speeches, highlighting the importance of the environment and its fundamental place in the present and the future of everyone. Two brave elementary school students shared environmental poems with confidence. Participants and children were then invited to enjoy an American-style breakfast offered by Kouaoua City Hall.

A great opportunity for everyone to share with the other partners invited. Bringing togetehr know-how and the mobilization of existing and active actors are of no question regarding environmental actions, as reminded by the talks with the Association Ho-Üt, CIE and Environord members.

SMSP and its subsidiaries led two workshops:

An information workshop was led in one of the classroom at the Faja school by Andy WRIGHT (Koniambo Nickel), Margaux LUSSIGNOL (NMC) and Sofia KONYI (NMC).

A mine replant workshop led by the NMC team from Kouaoua and Noumea including Clarisse KAPARIN and her team, and Jonathan GONY. 70 plants of endemic species were planted by the 40 students. Few pictures to recall the main steps of this workshop.

Clarisse KAPARIN and her team welcomed and guided the children on their arrival at Sotramine site where the plantation was located.

Jonathan GONYled a safety quarter-hour, then a presentation of the species that were going to be planted, highlighting that Caledonia had 14 endemic species among the 20 species of arraucaria existing in the world. Then, with the children, he explained the steps for planting, the drilling having already been done by NMC’s usual partner, SIRAS.

From explanation to practice, children of 9th and 10th grade, and of elementary school (4th & 5th grade) did not wait long before grabbing the plants and getting into action. The supervisors themselves, Brandon, Ophélie (elementary school teacher) and Clarisse, as well as our driver, Nico, participated with enthusiasm and professionalism to ensure the safety and smooth running of the workshop.

A mangrove seedling planting workshop was also planned for the same group brought to Mine. However, for reasons of time, it was not possible to lead it. The Head of Cotransmine, Donald BEMARON, had prepared a dedicated area for planting. This is only a matter of time for him and SMSP who will continue its commitment alongside the City Hall and the Elementary School. The Director of the Elementary School, Julianna PONGA, has been working with her teaching team for some time now to launch activities related to environment. Thus, the children maintain an homemade seedling nursery and regularly carry out replanting activities, with complete autonomy. As such, a group went to the mangrove in the morning to follow-up with their plantation from previous workshop.

In parallel with the NMC-Koniambo nickel workshop, the other partners present and the teachers themselves held workshops on various topics within the Faja school and under the tents outside.

The Association of KIDAMS on the theme of the “Eco-Citizen Brigade” enchanted the youngest under the premise of the school.

The SVT teacher from Kouaoua College provided a Microscope workshop, an opportunity to discover the perspective of the infinitely small environment.

The Association Ho-Üt de Touho with its three members, Stéphane, Didier and Amaury, explained the process of plastic waste circulation, especially into the sea. The children could see the power of the ocean in that it always throws onto the beaches, our beaches, all that is carelessly thrown overboard.

EnviroNord and CIE provided outside information workshops that captivated children, but also often adults.

The morning of the workshop ended with a shared meal offered by the City Hall, the taste buds of the participants were served, to say the least.

The event was a success for SMSP Group and its subsidiaries, NMC, Cotransmine and Koniambo Nickel. We want to thank Koniambo Nickel for coming from far away to participate and for the goodies including Koniambo Nickel caps that the children wore the whole day after thhe workshop.

Also, SMSP Group would like to thank dearly Kouaoua City Hall and its team, and the schools who organized this event and allowed us to contribute.

The post 2nd Edition of Kouaoua Environment Day first appeared on SMSP.

For the third consecutive year, the SMSP group is organizing its Trail, which will take place this year in the Municipality of Poya, Tribe of Nekliai-Mwéü on August 6!

As in previous years, this edition of the Trail SMSP of Poya 2022 will offer 3 trail tracks:

2 tracks of 10 and 30 km in the middle of the lush and mountainous landscape of Poya;

1 hiking-planting track of 3 km by the sea at the facilities of our subsidiary NMC;

Free visits of the NMC mine at Poya is available with registration this day at the SMSP’s stand from the morning. There will be 3 rotations: 9:00, 12:00 and 15:00. Departures will be from the Trail site.

The public will have the opportunity to visit the stands of the SMSP Group’s subsidiaries and its partners. Of course, the associations and artisans of Poya, the welcoming tribe Nekliai, and the surrounding tribes Montfaoué, Ouendji, Nepou, Nétéa and Karadji, will offer stands of handicrafts and food stalls.

“The riders will remember this course, the difficulty and the breathtaking landscapes.”

A campsite with secure parking will also be offered for sportsmen who wish to. They will be able to indicate their wish to have a meal on arrival, prepared by the tribe, for XPF 1000, and a breakfast for XPF 500 to be paid on site for Saturday 6 August in the morning. There is also a welcoming area for children for XPF 1000 per child, including a snack.

This event is meant to be “Zero Waste”, which is why our activities will be organized in such a way as to minimize waste generation.

The recognition of the 10 and 30 km tracks was carried out last week, on 2 and 3 June, with the help of the guides of Nekliai and Karadji tribes. They completed the reconnaissance within two days, exhausted but delighted. According to Axelle of Challenge Organization “the riders will remember this course, the difficulty and the breathtaking landscapes”.

We would like to make this event an opportunity to meet, share and discover our NMC site at Poya and we would like to thank the Mayor of Poya and the Customary Council of the Mwéü District with the chiefs of Nekliai clans for their collaboration in this adventure.

Do not hesitate to go to the Challenge Organization website (https://www.challenge-org.nc/evenements/_/trail-smsp-2022/) where you can find all the related logistics (camping, parking, childcare, meals etc.) and register. It will also be possible to register and pay cash directly by joining a member of the Organizing Committee at the following number: +687 78 67 38.

See you soon!

The post Start of registrations for the Poya SMSP Trail first appeared on SMSP.
