Société Minière du Sud Pacifique SA (SMSP) is a limited company with capital of 394 863 200 XPF. Its headquarters are located in Ouaco, in the municipality of Kaala Gomen in the Northern Province and its administrative headquarters in the Southern Province, in Nouméa. Its main shareholders are Northern Province (87%) and Loyalty Islands Province (5%) through SOFINOR and SODIL that have made the acquisition in 1990.
Thanks to an unprecedented strategy to develop the mineral resources for the benefit of the country and future generations, and innovative financial arrangements that it has been able to negotiate with international partners, SMSP owns 51% of two world class metallurgical plants, the Northern plant, its flagship project, operated by its subsidiary KNS, in the Northern Province of New Caledonia, and the plant in South Korea, operated by its subsidiary SNNC.
SMSP’s main mission is to enable economic rebalancing of the country by contributing to economic development in the Northern Province.
